How to Fix SIM not Supported Problem on iPhone Quickly

If you are reading this, you have probably bought a brand-new iPhone. Well, congratulations on that. But then you are not being able to make any calls because you are facing the SIM not supported problem.

You are probably thinking if the SIM not supported error can be fixed or not. The answer is yes and there is more than one way in which you can do it.

To fix SIM not supported issue, first, you need to check for carrier unlock for your iPhone. You can unlock the carrier using the IMEI number of the iPhone. The second method is to unlock iCloud Activation to set up with your iPhone and new SIM. There is also R-SIM that can unlock the carrier to work in your iPhone.

Let us run through each one of these methods.

1. Get in touch with the carrier

A simple yet popular way of solving the SIM not supported error, you can employ this method without incurring any cost. That is because you would have finished paying the contract by now.

The iPhone Carrier Checker that you use needs to be a reliable one to find out which carrier the iPhone has been locked to. The steps to unlock your iPhone from the carries are as follows:

Step 1: Check if the carrier unlocks

The first thing you need to determine to fix the SIM not supported error is whether or not the carrier supports unlocking. Since most carriers do, it won’t be much of an issue to fix the SIM not supported or SIM not valid error.

All that is required is to open the support site of Apple and check for any carrier that is available. The list of supported carriers is different for different countries and regions. You will know the carrier to be unlocked by noticing the unlocking feature beneath its name.

Step 2: Contact to unlock

You are now fully acquainted with the unlocking procedure of fixing the SIM not supported error. You can go to the next step and request for a call to unlock. A few things that you must remember though are as follows:

  1. There are some carriers that may not be free of cost when it comes to unlocking your iPhone.
  2. In case you did not make the payment for unlocking on time, you may not be able to proceed with the fixing of the SIM not supported error.
  3. Contacting the carrier may not be the same for you as it has been for others. If you call them, you might have to answer some security questions. Alternately, you can just log into your online dashboard with information about your account.

Once you have submitted your request successfully, it will probably take 3-5 days before your device gets unlocked and subsequently fix the SIM not supported error.

Step 3: Starting the process of unlocking

You can back up your iPhone while it is preparing to unlock and then solve the SIM not supported issue. Backing up the iPhone will ensure that you don’t lose any of your stored data while trying to fix the SIM not supported error.

After your device unlocks, you will receive a notification from your carrier. You are very close to fixing the SIM not supported error.

  • Remove your old SIM card and replace it with a new one in your iPhone.

Now, you may not feel like undergoing all the processes described, on the grounds that they are pretty complicated. I don’t blame you at all. Which is why there is another simpler solution to the SIM not supported error.

You can make of use of IMEI services of unlocking to proceed with the SIM not supported error. All you need is to follow the steps below and your SIM not supported problem will be solved.

  • Go to the iPhone Unlock service page.

  • Select your country of residence and the network carrier of your iPhone.
  • You must also enter the IMEI number of the device below.
  • Follow the instructions of payment on the window that opens up and you have placed your order.

Now that your order has been placed, wait for 24 hours as that is how long it will take to process. After the unlocking, you will be notified about it. This means that your iPhone will no longer receive the SIM not supported message.

Also, I like this method because it permanently unlocks your iPhone and is more affordable than paying your carrier for performing network unlock. Also, you don’t need to install any software or firmware for the same. No jailbreaking required either.

Just to satisfy your curiosity though, there is another way you can understand if the SIM not supported problem has been taken care of or not.

  • Switch off the iPhone and eject your SIM card.
  • Insert another SIM card in the slot.
  • Now switch your phone on again.

See if your iPhone recognizes the carrier and whether you receive the SIM not supported message or not.

3. Unlocking iCloud Activation

  • Insert the SIM card and then press the home button.
  • Choose the option that says emergency call.
  • Dial “*#*#*#*#*#” and press call. After doing it thrice switch off your iPhone.
  • Switch on your iPhone and then select your preferred language and your region.
  • Step 4. Type #*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#* under the option that says “Activation Lock Apple ID and password”.

Step 2. Switch your iPhone on and then choose the language you prefer along with your country of origin as well as the region.

Step 3. Now just enter the Apple ID as well as the password to unlock your carrier. You have solved the SIM not supported error for good.

5. Resetting Network Settings

When you reset your Network settings, all of your iPhone’s networks are reset to the factory default settings. Meaning your WiFi, Bluetooth, VPN Settings and phone’s cellular network settings will be restored.

Doing this has been known to fix many types of network-related problems. However, before performing a network reset on your iPhone make sure you save the passwords of WiFi networks, VPN and other networks so that you can connect with them again after the reset is done.

The steps to perform network resetting are listed below:

  • Go to Settings > General .
